Steve Escaravage is the senior leader in Booz Allen’s analytics practice and artificial intelligence (AI) business. He and his teams help clients with the operational integration of data science, machine learning, and AI solutions. Steve drives the firm’s analytics strategy, vision, and technical delivery across all markets and sectors.
As a leader in Booz Allen’s strategic innovation initiatives, Steve also leads the firm’s investments in AI technologies and applications. His research and development portfolio includes edge AI, adversarial machine learning, cognitive automation, and quantum information science.
Over the course of his career, Steve has served in delivery oversight and leadership roles in Booz Allen’s defense, health, energy, commercial, and international businesses. In his previous role, Steve led the firm’s defense analytics business, serving clients across the Department of Defense including the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center. Prior to that, Steve led the transformation of Booz Allen’s Food and Drug Administration business from traditional systems integration provider to industry-leading strategy, technology, and analytics partner. He also led the design and implementation of machine learning and data management solutions for financial institutions, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Beyond customer delivery, Steve is committed to AI research and development, leading his team to 21 accepted papers and presentations since January 2020 in top AI forums, including the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems, and the Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition.
An early trailblazer in "responsible AI," Steve implemented Booz Allen’s corporate model to guide ethical adoption of AI in the context of environment, social, and governance commitments and aspirations.
Steve is an expert in applied mathematics, data management, and optimization. He holds an M.S. in operations research from George Mason University and a B.A. in mathematics from Rutgers University.
He currently serves as treasurer for the Special Olympics Virginia Board of Directors, director on the Kumanu Board of Directors, and observer on the Latent AI Board of Directors. Steve shares his expertise via the INFORMS Industry Roundtable and Center for a New American Security Task Force on AI and National Security.
