St. Louis, 1804: A group of explorers led by Lewis and Clark undertake a monumental journey to the Pacific Ocean, determined to map the unexplored territory of the American West.
Today, that spirit is alive in Booz Allen’s St. Louis office, where we support bold initiatives for government agencies including the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Geospatial intelligence, according to the NGA, uses “imagery and geospatial information to describe, assess and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activities on the Earth.”
Working closely with the federal agency and using state-of-the-art tools and technology, we’re “identifying new spaces and exploring areas no one has explored before,” says Booz Allen recruiter Jessica McCann. Modern-day Lewis and Clark, anyone?
Booz Allen helps the NGA discover and deliver intelligence to aid in counterterrorism, mission planning, protecting our warfighters, and other crucial initiatives. To support those efforts, we’re hiring cleared talent with unflinching courage. “We need people with fresh perspectives who can work alongside government employees on cross-functional teams,” Jessica says.
One of those people is Ken Luke, a researcher who works with big data and machine learning. “My job is to extract information and find hidden meaning within it. My team also works with imagery and neural networks on image classification,” says Ken. In other words: Uncover, investigate, pioneer.
Ken says that the people who thrive on Booz Allen’s St. Louis team are proactive, curious, and passionate about owning their careers. “Technology is the place to be and this is the place to do it. If you want training, you’ll get it. If you want to learn, you’ll learn. People are fluid here. It’s exciting, you can move around and explore so many opportunities.”
More than two hundred years ago, explorers set out to discover new horizons. Centuries later at our office in St. Louis, Booz Allen is carrying the torch, pioneering ways to empower people to change the world—starting with you.
