User Experience Myth vs Reality

In one of my previous blog post, I have explained what is the difference between UI and UX. Following that, I would list down a few more things one should know about User Experience.

There is a myth that User Experience is solely about digital products or something we see on a computer screen, which is not the case at all.

User Experience can be applied to any product we use. We can take for example a pen which is built in a certain fashion so that when you grip it, it is easy to write. With some pens, we don’t get tired writing ‘n’ number of pages, unlike a few others. Some pens leave ink marks on our hands when we write. These considerations determine how usable a product is. Well, that is User Experience. Hence Proved, user experience is not confined to just digital products or screens, in fact, it does not even need a screen at all.

Another myth is User Experience can make a product that does not fit into a requirement to fit in.

Just because a user experience test has been performed on any product will not make it more usable or increase its demand. User Experience just enhances the usability of a product but that is not the only factor responsible in the sale of a product.

The biggest misconception about User Experience is that it is just about users.

User Experience Design is not just about the user but its also about the business or the creator of the product. Any product with a good User Experience will add value to the user and if the user likes the product it will add value to the Business. So a product cannot be designed by only considering its users instead the business needs are also to be taken care of. User Experience should also accommodate business objectives and not just focus on the user needs.
